Habitat Map of Scotland

Available under the Open Government Licence

Introduction

The Habitat Map of Scotland is a project being undertaken by Scotland's Nature Agency. They aim to produce a “comprehensive map of Scotland’s main habitats”, to EUNIS standards. This involves re-classifying and combining a number of existing data sources. So far the sources are joined but still clearly distinct, and there are significant overlapping polygons.

OpenLayers

This is a quick-and-dirty representation. From the data (2023) as a File Geodatabase I have extracted the following broad habitat groups (codes).
Most notably this omits all the 'land cover' derived from OS VectorMap District, which is mostly buildings.

To afford a level of compatibility, for the time being, between England and Scotland, I have adopted the basic colour coding of the Priority Habitat Inventory. See below. Where there are overlapping polygons from different sources the colours go awry, but you can click on the map to 'get feature info' from all the sources to find out what is actually going on.
